Domain Registrars Lose Accreditation

Three South American domain registrars have lost their accreditation according to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers ( ICANN ). The reason for this is that they have failed to comply with the requirements of the Registrar Accreditation Agreement (RAA). New Contract Signed With ICANN

Although we only became ICANN accredited a few short months ago we found ourselves signing up to the new contract with ICANN during the meeting in Sydney. New Rules Considered for Domain Name Registrars

GNSO approves motion for changes to registrar accreditation agreement. At the Mexico City ICANN meeting, Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO) approved a motion to adopt changes to the Registrar Accreditation Agreement (RAA) including new amendments. These changes are now open for public comment , after which the ICANN board of directors will vote on the changes. ICANN: Termination of Registrar EstDomains to Go Ahead

The termination of ICANN-accredited registrar EstDomains is to go ahead, effective 24 November 2008. On 28 October 2008, ICANN sent a notice of termination to EstDomains, Inc. (EstDomains) based on an Estonian Court record reflecting the conviction of EstDomains’ then president, Vladimir Tsastsin, of credit card fraud, money laundering and document forgery. Pursuant to Section 5.3 of the Registrar Accreditation Agreement (RAA), ICANN may terminate the RAA before its expiration when, “Any off
